One sunny day, Ava put on her pink dress. It was her most favorite dress ever! "I want to look in the attic," she said. "Mom says there are fun old things up there." Up the stairs she went. The attic was dark but not scary. Dust made her nose tickle! In a box, she saw something shine. It was round and gold. It was an old watch! "How pretty!" said Ava. She held it up. It began to glow with magic light! The watch had two buttons. One was blue. One was red.

Ava pressed the red button with her small finger. The watch glowed brighter and brighter! "Wow!" she said as the light swirled around her like a warm hug. When the light went away, Ava was not in the attic anymore! She was in a big green park. But it looked different. The cars on the street were old. The people wore funny clothes. She saw a little girl crying on a bench. The girl had on an old dress, like from long ago. "Why are you sad?" Ava asked. She walked closer to the crying girl. "I lost my puppy," the girl said. "I can't find him anywhere!" The magic watch felt warm in Ava's hand. She knew she could help!

"Don't cry," Ava said. "I will help you find your puppy. What does he look like?" "He is small and brown with a white spot on his nose," the girl said. "His name is Spot." Ava took the girl's hand. They walked up to a nice old man feeding birds. "Have you seen a small brown puppy?" Ava asked. "He has a white spot on his nose." The old man smiled. "Yes! I saw him run that way, near the big tree." Ava and the girl walked to the tree. They saw more people having a picnic. "Excuse me," Ava said nicely. "Did you see a puppy run by?" "Oh yes!" a lady said. "He went behind those bushes just now!" They heard a small bark. Behind the bushes, they saw a wagging tail! "Spot!" the girl ran to her puppy. He jumped and licked her face. "Thank you!" the girl hugged Ava. "You are so kind!" The watch began to glow again. Ava had a choice to make.

Ava smiled and pressed the blue button. The warm light swirled around her again! When she opened her eyes, she was in a big garden. The flowers were all colors of the rainbow! But some looked very sad and droopy. An old woman in a big sun hat was looking at the flowers. She looked worried. "Oh dear, oh dear," the woman said. "My flowers need water, but my well is dry. The fair is tomorrow, and I wanted to show my pretty flowers!" Ava saw a rain cloud far away. She also saw a water can by a fence. Maybe she could help!

Ava picked up the water can. It was a bit heavy, but she could carry it. "Don't worry," she told the old woman. "I will help find water!" She walked around the garden. Behind some tall flowers, she saw a small stream! "Look!" Ava said. "We can use this water!" The old woman clapped her hands. "Oh my! I forgot about the stream!" Ava and the old woman filled the water can. Together, they gave all the flowers a drink. One by one, the droopy flowers stood up tall. Their petals opened wide and bright! "The flowers are so happy now!" Ava said. "You are such a helpful dear," the old woman smiled. "Would you like to help me get the flowers ready for the fair?" The magic watch felt warm in Ava's pocket. She had another choice to make.

"Yes, I will help!" Ava said with a big smile. The old woman gave Ava a small pair of garden gloves. They were just her size! "First, we pick off the old leaves," the woman showed Ava. "Then we make the soil nice and soft." Ava worked hard. She picked off brown leaves. She made the soil soft with a small tool. The flowers seemed to dance in the warm sun. They were red, blue, yellow, and pink! "Now for the ribbons," the woman said. She pulled out pretty silk ribbons. Ava helped tie soft ribbons around each flower pot. The ribbons were as bright as the flowers! "These will win at the fair for sure!" Ava said. Just then, she heard a small sound. Behind a big rose bush, a tiny bird was crying. The watch felt warm again in her pocket.

Ava looked at the tiny bird, then back at the flowers. She knew the bird needed help, but she had promised to help with the flowers first. "We are almost done," the old woman said kindly. "Just a few more ribbons." Ava tied the last ribbons carefully. The pots looked so pretty! Each flower stood tall and proud. But the tiny bird kept crying. Its sad sounds made Ava's heart feel heavy. The old woman heard it too. "All done with the flowers now. Shall we see what's wrong with our little friend?" Ava walked to the rose bush. There, on the ground, was a baby blue bird. It looked up at her with big eyes. "Oh!" said Ava. "I think it fell from its nest!" She looked up. High in the rose bush was a small nest. The mother bird was flying around it, worried.

Ava looked at the old woman. "Can you help me lift the baby bird?" "Of course, dear," the woman smiled. She cupped her hands, and Ava gently picked up the tiny bird. The old woman lifted Ava up carefully. Ava reached out and put the baby bird back in its nest. The mother bird flew down and sang a happy song! The baby bird chirped with joy! "You have such a kind heart," the old woman said. The magic watch began to glow one last time. The warm light swirled around Ava like a rainbow. When she opened her eyes, she was back in her attic. The dust made her nose tickle again! She looked at the magic watch and smiled. It had shown her that being kind and helping others makes the whole world brighter. Ava put the watch back in its box, but kept the memory of her adventures in her heart forever.
